More than three months ago Jim Favata was in full cardiac arrest in the Lowe’s parking lot. On Wednesday, the 56-year-old walked into the Oswego Eastside Fire Station to personally say thank you to the EMTs who saved his life.
The Oswego County Department of Social Services will temporarily close its offices at 100 Spring St., Mexico at noon on Friday. The department will re-open at 8:30 a.m. Dec. 18, at the former Cayuga Community College building at 806 W. Broadway, Fulton.
It will be a bit milder on Thursday with highs near 40.
The Oswego County Health Department provides a premiere home health care agency to residents throughout the county. Services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and include skilled nursing, home health aides, and medical social work along with nutritional, physical, occupational, respiratory and speech therapies.
Around three dozen people gathered Tuesday night at the McCrobie Building to discuss Harborfest part, present and future. Topics included funding, volunteers, transportation, entertainment and more. Harborfest 2013 will take place July 25 to 28.

Doyle is his name, in the State Police tradition of naming police dogs after fallen Troopers. He’s new at the Fulton barracks but he’s already been put to work helping to find a lost hunter. And his handler, Trooper Shaun Smith, says he’s happy to be part of a small group of people — officers who handle police dogs.
