This year’s theme, “Lead-Free Kids for a Healthy Future,” underscores the importance of testing your home, testing your child, and learning how to prevent lead poisoning’s serious health effects, which include permanent learning and behavioral problems. The CDC estimates that nearly half a million children living in the United States have elevated blood lead levels that may cause significant damage to their health.
Two Great Lakes coastal issue extension educators: Helen M. Domske, Buffalo, and David B. MacNeill, Oswego, have been honored for excellence by the Great Lakes Sea Grant Extension Network.
“Police officers, educators, bus drivers, motorcyclists, wheelchair bus educator – we really have a wide variety of awesome winners this year! I am over the moon excited to be able to honor them,” exclaimed Billie Crandall Brady, coordinator of Oswego County Traffic Safety Education. “These individuals are absolutely extraordinary. They are the kind of people you can count on to do things in their community and make their community better.”
At about 6:17 a.m. today (October 19), the Oswego County 911 Center received a call from Amber L. Wilson reporting that she had been assaulted by two unknown males in a field adjacent to her residence. Investigation revealed that no assault occurred.

The 2013 U.S. Army All-American Bowl Selection Tour recruited Joseph Bertonneau to the Army All-American Marching Band. He will take part in the halftime performance of the 2013 U.S. Army All-American Bowl. He is the 10th Oswego student selected since 2007. The game will be televised live on NBC, from the Alamodome on Jan. 5, 2013.
The Oswego Opera Theater is pleased to announce the first production of its new 2012-2013 schedule, presenting a “Welcome Back” concert on November 11 at 2:30 p.m. in Waterman Theater in Tyler Hall on the SUNY-Oswego Campus. The production celebrates young Opera and Musical Theatre artists who call Oswego “home.”
