Oswego High School’s track was crowded Friday night as purple-clad cancer survivors, their families, friends and supporters gathered to raise money for the American Cancer Society at the annual Relay for Life.

Years ago, Oswego County didn’t have a good permanent disposal method for residents who were looking for ways to get rid of household hazardous waste products. However, thanks to a grant from former Senator Jim Wright and the NYS DEC, the Oswego County Legislature and Department of Solid Waste opened a permanent disposal facility
The Springboard Mural Project is poised to launch another season of bringing some color to Oswego’s Riverwalk West. Nearly two dozen young artists are collaborating on the murals to be painted along the walkway. The mural project is a youth-focused initiative.It was originally a city sponsored community development plan to address graffiti issues.

The Oswego County Health Department began its full-scale mosquito surveillance program the week of May 28 in the Toad Harbor/Big Bay swamp area.
