Voters in Fulton gave strong approval to a school budget for next school year and even stronger approval to funding for the Fulton Public Library.
But one of the leaders of the effort to craft and pass a budget did not survive the night’s voting.
UPDATE: Oswego school district has provided totals that include absentees
Voters returned an incumbent to the Oswego School Board and one new member. Incumbent Tom DeCastro finished second in the unofficial results just four votes behind Lynda Sereno. Sereno finished with 1,126 and DeCastro with 1,122.
At about 9:28 a.m. on today’s date (May 15) members of the Oswego County Drug Task Force and the Oswego City Police Department executed a search warrant in the upper apartment of 89 E. Cayuga St., Oswego, following an investigation into alleged illegal drug activity. Two Syracuse residents were charged.
Rebeor, a life-long resident of Oswego County who survived a bout with cancer, was selected from nearly a dozen individuals nominated by friends, family members and community leaders throughout Oswego, Jefferson and St. Lawrence counties. She will join honorees from across the state at a special ceremony in the Senate Chamber and at a reception at the State Capitol Tuesday evening.

It’s the middle of May and for many college students that means graduating and heading into the real world. To me, it doesn’t feel remotely possible that my four-year career is coming to an end. It feels like just yesterday I was moving to campus, nervous yet excited about college and all it brings.
The councilors unanimously OK’d a request from the Maggie Sue Glenister Wilcox family to use public space to educate the community about the deadly Eastern Equine Encephalitis virus. At last week’s committee meetings, Donna Wilcox, on behalf of the family, requested permission to place signs in Oswego city parks.
Oswego City School District voters will be casting their ballots for the budget, the purchase of 10 new buses and a $15 million school improvement capital project when they go to the polls on Tuesday.
