Some sunshine – but still a bit chilly
Four persons have submitted petitions to seek a position on the Oswego City School District Board of Education. (Incumbent) Thomas DeCastro, Sean Madden, Lynda Sereno and Francis Zaryski presented their petitions prior to the deadline on April 25. Incumbent Francis Hoefer decided not to seek re-election.
It recognizes outstanding work by the city’s emergency service providers, civilians, and community leaders for the year 2011. All are welcome to attend.
The suspect was allegedly found by a homeowner in the process of burglarizing an apartment. He was detained, without force, by a friend of the homeowner until police arrived.

With the drama already drained from the Republican race for President, the vast majority of Oswego County Republicans decided they had something better to do Tuesday than vote in the New York primary. Only one in every 20 eligible Republicans bothered to vote and many voted for candidates no longer in the race.
An agreement at the state and federal level has brewed up renewed interest in placing wind turbines in Lake Ontario off the Oswego County shoreline. Some local legislators are concerned about what that might mean for the area’s multi-million dollar fishing and tourism industry.
