Two Schroeppel teens are on the fast track to court after leading police on a car chase. Police say the chase involved many of the roads in the area, including a snowmobile trail. The teens jumped from the moving car, police allege, but didn’t get far.
Lisa Buske hopes to have her book finished by this Thanksgiving. It details how she has dealt with the kidnapping and presumed murder of her sister – Heidi Allen. She hopes by sharing her experience it will help others facing the same situation.
Ten time Indy 500 veteran and 1997 Oswego Speedway International Classic winner Davey Hamilton met several race fans Friday afternoon at Burritt Motors. Hamilton was in town to help kick off the 24th annual “$10,000 to Win†this weekend at Oswego Speedway.
Oswego County Public Health Director Dr. Dennis Norfleet announced today that a total of eight pools of mosquitoes collected near the village of Central Square and the Toad Harbor Swamp area have tested positive for Eastern equine encephalitis (EEE).
“The virus activity is developing into a situation very similar to what we had in 2009 when we had a case of human EEE in Oswego County,†said Dr. Norfleet.
The New York State Education Department has made significant scoring changes in grading the statewide proficiency tests. These tests have been given regularly since 2005 to elementary and middle school students. However, the changes will have an impact on test scores as well as present problems for school districts.
A new wind turbine was installed Thursday on the roof of Lee Hall on the SUNY Oswego campus. The turbine, connected to the campus heating plant, will provide about 40,000 killowatt hours of electricity a year.
At approximately 1:10 p.m. today (July 29), Oswego Police were dispatched to Wal-Mart, 341 State Route 104 regarding a bomb threat. AÂ search yielded no credible threats and the store was reopened after Wal-Mart management determined that there was no danger to the public.
