Monday’s high was the first time it has hit 90 degrees since Aug. 17, 2009. The city swimming pool and Lake Ontario were popular spots for man and beast to cool off. The mercury may stay above 90 for the next few days.
If you need to visit a county office or the Department of Motor Vehicles offices in Oswego, Fulton, or Pulaski, take note: summer hours begin on Tuesday.

Crowds lined West Bridge Street Sunday afternoon to catch a glimpse of the annual Oswego Independence Day Celebration parade. Sunday’s event had something for everyone from marching bands to fire trucks.
The injured puppy was surrendered to Rachel Dean at Absolute Auto in Fulton. “When the vet told me that he could save him, I said, Go for it!’†Rachel said. “They put him on a special diet to get his weight up because he was malnourished. The vet put a muzzle on his jaw; we hope that it heals back together.â€Â If not, Rockford will be transported to Cornell for surgery that could cost as much as $5,000.

At about 2:57 a.m. today (July 2), Oswego Police were dispatched to a residence on East Sixth Street in the city. Upon arrival and initial investigation, it was determined that four men had allegedly engaged an adult male victim in a physical altercation outside the victim’s East Sixth Street residence. The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries, police said. The four alleged attackers were arrested a short time later.
The dog was reportedly abused and its jaw is being held on only by tissue and skin. It may require costly surgery.

A year ago, the Community Garden in memory of Heidi Allen at the intersection of State Route 104 and State Route 104B was both an eye sore and discouragement both to the community and family of Heidi Allen. The management of Sun Up #7 and Barrett Paving have blessed the community and family to restore the yard and Community Garden.
A public issues forum regarding the proposal to create an integrated beef cattle processing, ethanol and renewable energy facility somewhere in Oswego County will be held July 14. It’s set for SUNY Oswego’s Campus Center auditorium at 7 p.m.
Oswego Police wish to alert citizens to a series of vehicle entries that have been occurring. From June 1 through 30, the Oswego City Police Department has investigated 36 reports of vehicles that have been illegally entered.
