We chose a sequence of photos taken as firehoses blew down the damaged steeple of St. Louis Church, the last moment when a symbol of the church stood in the city.
We also picked a handful of photos from the day after, which find some art in the rubble.

Crews worked into the night and were able to successfully bring down the remaining portions of the vacant church. Early this morning, the debris was cleared from the roadway and State Route 104 was reopened to vehicular traffic.
Fire hit a home in Scriba Sunday.
The fire damaged the home at 53 Maiden Lane, according to the Onondaga/Oswego chapter of the Red Cross.
On July 23, at about 11:23 p.m., Oswego City Police Officers patrolling on foot in the area of West Fourth Street / Lake Street in the city of Oswego observed a physical altercation in progress.
East Bridge Street, near vacant St. Louis Church remains closed to traffic following the collapse of the building’s north wall late Sunday afternoon. The building collapsed as Harborfest was drawing to a close.

UPDATE: As of 6:45 Harborfest officials say indications are that the weather will allow the fireworks display to go on as planned.
A note from Harborfest chief Tom Van Schaack timestamped 5:19 p.m. says that as of that time, tonight’s Harborfest fireworks display is still on, and still scheduled for approximately 9:30 p.m. As of 6 p.m., strong storm were rolling through the area, the edge of a cooler front that will eventually bring more moderate temperatures to the area. The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for a multi-county area that includes Oswego County. The watch runs until 11 p.m.
Traffic Alert: Upon inspection, and in consultation with the Oswego Police Department, the decision was made to close the eastbound lane of traffic on Lake Street from West Second Street to West Fourth Street until July 26.
After being rained out Friday, the annual Children’s Parade is slated to step off at noon on Saturday from East Park. The fun continues Saturday – highlighted by the fireworks spectacular at 9:15 p.m.
Police say: “According to witnesses, a patient at the Oswego Hospital Emergency Department allegedly physically assaulted a security guard employed at the hospital then left the building. Once outside, the suspect stole an Oswego Ambulance that was parked outside the emergency entrance that had been transporting an unrelated patient to the hospital.”
