Scene Around Town: Steady As She Goes
Michala Wahl helps her brother, Kevin, man the wheel of the National Historic Landmark World War II Tugboat the LT-5 Friday at the H. Lee White Marine Museum. The LT-5 is part of the museum’s ongoing exhibit.
The tug served during the Normandy Invasion in World War II and is even credited with shooting down an enemy aircraft.
Kevin and Michala are the children of Petty Officer First Class Jeffrey Wahl, the US Navy recruiter stationed in Oswego.
Fort Ontario Will Open Saturday Now That State Lawmakers Have OK’d Money For Parks
At Fort Ontario, site manager Paul Lear said the gates will open Saturday, with a historical reenactor at the gate to greet them, volunteers to help guide them and General Brown, the site’s pet dog, roaming the grounds as usual.
“The coffee pot will be on and the flags will be up,” he told Oswego County Today.com.

Fulton Kicks Off Memorial Day Salute
Fulton’s annual weekend salute to the contributions and sacrifices of its veterans is here.
Memorial Day Salute begins Friday at 5:00 p.m. at the War Memorial complex. There’ll be rides and games, food and music, Friday night fireworks, and, on Saturday morning, one of Central New York’s largest parades.
