County Amends Law Regarding Nuclear Tax Pact
The amendment changes exemptions granted to the nuclear power generators in 2001 so that they expire with the current tax agreement, rather than 2016.

Bion Official Offers Update On Slaughterhouse Proposal
A representative of Bion Environmental Technologies offered an update Thursday on their proposal to bring more than 70,000 head of beef cattle into the county. And, they vowed to keep the community updated as the plan moves along.

UPDATE: The inclement weather has caused the Oswego City School District to close today (Feb. 26).
Mexico schools are on a one-hour delay.
Fulton schools are closed – Teaching Staff report at 9:30 and teacher aides report at noon.
Hannibal schools are also closed.

Several Schools Closed Thursday Due To Snow
Due to the inclement weather and the outlook for the up to a foot or more of snow in some areas: Schools are closed in Oswego, Fulton and Hannibal today (Feb. 25). In Hannibal, the musical will be at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Also closed around the county are Central Square, Mexico, BOCES (including evening classes), Phoenix, and Pulaski.
UPDATE: Fulton is canceling tonight’s special Board of Education meeting to review its construction projects.
As of 9:30 a.m., a travel advisory has been issued for Cayuga County urging no unnecessary travel.

County To State: Deal With Meaningful Budgetary Reform
Oswego County legislators will send a pair of resolution to a plethora of state officials, including the governor, in support of Fort Ontario and Selkirk Shores. The resolutions also encourage state lawmakers to focus on meaningful budgetary reform and systemic changes that need to take place to solve New York State’s budget problems right away.

Fulton School Budget: $1.2 Million in Proposed Cuts Isn’t Half Enough
So far, there’s as much as $1.2 million in cuts being proposed: A half million dollars saved because of retirements; cuts in buying textbooks and a host of smaller purchases; and eliminating 8 jobs.
In an average year, $1.2 million in spending cuts would produce a tax cut or, at worst, no increase. This isn’t an average year.

Tickets Still Remain For Treasure Island Luau
OK, you can bring your teddy bears, but this year they probably should wear grass skirts. The Oswego City-County Youth Bureau and Oswego Harborfest will host a Treasure Island Luau on Sunday. The event will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Elks Lodge on West Fifth Street.
