The Oswego County Sheriff’s Department says Michael S. McCandless, 23, of 339 Main St., Phoenix, crossed from the southbound lane to the northbound lane at about 4:15 a.m. Sunday. Police say he nearly hit a police car head on.
An A. L. Lee Memorial Hospital official says that despite the state’s announcement that Oswego Hospital will receive a sizeable grant to make improvements to several of its departments, the goal of keeping Lee Memorial up and running has not changed. Talks of a potential partnership agreement between Lee and one of two Syracuse hospitals continue.
A couple pumpkins were more than 1,000 pounds at this year’s festival in Oswego. The winner was 1,219.5 – not quite as massive as last year’s record-setting 1,405.5 pounder.
A 26-page report detailing Oswego County Department of Social Services’ investigations involving Erin Maxwell was made public Thursday afternoon. Originally prepared for Oswego County Legislature Chairman Barry Leemann, the report provided information about three separate investigations that were launched over a three-year span between 2003 and 2006. DSS Commissioner Frances Lanigan says that another investigation is underway.
Nearly a month since the Fulton City Police Department first asked for the public’s help to find 32-year-old Chad Barton, police have no new developments in the case. Barton was last seen July 25.
Edward E. Farrell, of East Cayuga Street was arrested for allegedly breaking into the Valero Gas Station, 181 E. First St.
