Palermo Resident: County Department of Social Services Failed Erin Maxwell

As Salvatore Lanza, the attorney for the Maxwell family, addressed the community during a press conference Friday, he defended the Oswego County Department of Social Services on the family‘s behalf and stressed that the Maxwells do not hold the county responsible for the death of 11-year-old Erin Maxwell. Behind Lanza, a Palermo resident held a sign to say that he does.

Facilities Improvement Plan Developed With No Local Cost

Hannibal Central School District is preparing to go to a public vote, seeking approval for a $26.9 million capital project that has been developed to address health and safety, facilities, technology and energy needs at all three of the district’s school buildings. Using special state funding that came through the 2006-07 state budget, taxpayer support at the polls will allow the district to deliver the project with no local cost.

Engel Case Marks First Charge Under ‘Stephanie’s Law’ In Oswego County

Fulton police department’s arrest of a Fulton man accused of using a video camera to secretly record young women in his bathroom marks the first time that an Oswego County resident is being charged under Stephanie’s Law. Enacted in 2003, Stephanie’s Law is named for Long Island resident Stephanie Fuller, who was videotaped by her landlord through a camera he installed in a smoke detector. Though her landlord was convicted only of trespassing, the case spearheaded the law to make unlawful surveillance a felony.
