Winter Will Not Halt Work for Friends of Fulton Parks Volunteers

Friends of Fulton Parks is active year-round, and currently seeking participants and volunteers to plan their first annual “Snow Softball Tournament” fundraiser in February. Amazon will donate a percentage of the sales to the organization. The winter is also time for planning and preparing for the next year. On the 2018 agenda for fun are Sparkle-a-Park, A Day in Foster Park, Lake Neatahwanta Nature Trail Walk, and Oswego River Pathfinder Trail Halloween Hike. Just before Halloween, Friends of Fulton Parks collaborated with Oswego County Opportunities’ Impact Program, Fulton YMCA, and Fulton NY Rocks to host their first Halloween Hike along the Oswego River on Fulton’s restored Oswego River Pathfinder Trail.

Fulton’s Downtown Lit for Holiday Season

The 14th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Jubilee at Fulton’s City Hall kicked the holiday season off to a jolly start. Guests enjoyed free hot chocolate, donuts, crafts, and face painting as they awaited the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus to light the city’s Christmas tree. For the first time this year, the holiday lighting didn’t stop at the city’s tree at City Hall. The Fulton downtown gazebo has been lit for the holiday season thanks to community members and local businesses.

A Scriba resident who purchased property in October recently received solicitations from two companies based in Albany, NY. The companies offered to provide a “property assessment profile” or a “property report” and a copy of the deed for $87. “This information is public record and available on our website. Please don’t waste $87 for this free information,” said Real Property Director Betsy Knapp.

Rally Held Opposing GOP Tax Plan

More than two dozen concerned citizens spent their lunch hour Friday (Dec. 8) holding an informational picket outside Oswego City Hall. The group sought to highlight the cons of the proposed GOP tax plan.
Some, armed with signs, went into City Hall to see if anyone was working in Congressman John Katko’s office. No one was working and the office was locked. Later, they patrolled the west side of West First Street to get their message out to pedestrians and motorists.

75 loads of gravel were used to improve large sections of the trail. Dump trucks and other equipment were provided by Parker’s Excavation/Tree Service, Brian Wallis and the Oswego County ATV Club.

The volunteers who maintain snowmobile trails are just as busy in the summer with pre-season snowmobile preparations as they are in the winter – brushing trails, fixing and replacing bridges, working with landowners and securing the permits and permissions needed to continue to use trails on state lands. Danger is her middle name. Literally. As such, the young Brooklyn Danger Marie Hall is no stranger to looking danger in the face. “Brooklyn Danger is not your typical 3-year-old. She is the most dangerous girl in the world. She is the kind of girl that has no fear, jumps without second guessing, and runs full speed into dangerous situations,” her mom, Meghan Hall said on the youngster’s GoFundMe account. And now, at not yet even four-years-old, Brooklyn Hall dubbed “Danger Girl” is staring danger right in the face once again as she battles Ependymoma, a rare type of brain cancer occurring in only eight to 10 percent of childhood brain tumors.

Governor Cuomo Announces Completion Of $14 Million Route 104 Rehabilitation In Oswego County

Governor Andrew Cuomo today (Dec. 8) announced the completion of a $14 million project that rehabilitated nearly four miles of Route 104 in western Oswego County. “Route 104 is a vital corridor for Oswego County and the Niagara Frontier, supporting commerce, tourism and recreational opportunities for the entire region’s economy,” Governor Cuomo said. “This project modernizes and upgrades the highway while improving safety for all of the motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians who depend upon this critical roadway.”
