Exelon Generation will perform a bi-annual, full-volume test of its emergency warning sirens on Tuesday, Dec. 5, at 1 p.m. Because this is only a test, no response by the public is necessary.
The city of Fulton’s 2018 budget will be up for discussion at a public hearing set for Tuesday, December 12. The $16,492,000 budget will be available on the city website or at the Clerk/Chamberlain’s office a week prior to the public hearing. Members of the public can review the budget and weigh in at the public hearing on December 12, opening after the public comment portion of the regular common council meeting to begin at 7 p.m. at the Fulton Municipal Building, 141 S. First St.
State Police in Hastings are investigating a vandalism incident that occurred outside a residence on Bradbury Road in the town of West Monroe. The investigation has revealed that on November 26, between midnight and 8 a.m., someone damaged a garage door with spray paint and used a pick axe to damage two vehicles that were parked in the driveway.
Renovations and improvements are in store for the Hannibal Central School District after voters approved a $42 million capital project Wednesday (Nov. 29). In a 157-50 vote, residents elected to move forward with the project, which encompass upgrades to portions of all district buildings. The renovations will come at no cost to district taxpayers, as the project is fully funded through a combination of state aid and the district’s existing capital reserve fund.

And, a beacon of hope spreads further across the horizons for all men to see.” That was evident at the recent ‘Gathering Around The Light’ ceremony at the Sikhs’ temple on Graves Road in Palermo. In a world dominated by acts of hatred, some 50 people gathered to celebrate the power of forgiveness to overcome the flames hatred and remember the great miracle that rekindled the hope of the Central New York region.
Governor Andrew Cuomo today (Nov. 28) announced nearly $2 million in Empire State After-School Program funding has been awarded to two high-need school districts in Central New York. The Oswego City School District will receive $566,400.
A Fulton man is facing sexual abuse and other charges, police reported today (Nov. 28). Anthony M. Gerard, 37, was arrested after an investigation by the City of Fulton Police Department and charged with the following crimes:
• First-degree sexual abuse (nine counts), Class D Felony
• Endangering the welfare of a child (three counts), Class A Misdemeanor
• Forcible Touching (nine counts), Class A Misdemeanor
Carol Thompson, a former local reporter, attempted to speak Monday night at the Common Council’s public session. She was shut down by the City Attorney Kevin Caraccioli; her comments, he ruled, violated the guidelines for speaking at the public session. It constituted a ‘personal attack,’ he said. The sexually explicit recording was sent to her via Facebook messenger, Thompson told the council as she began to play the one minute, five second recording into the record. She didn’t play the entire message.
Fort Ontario State Historic Site will host a “Wreaths Across America Day” program Dec. 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The public is invited to make wreaths with natural evergreens in the Enlisted Men’s Barracks and place them at the graves of the 77 officers, enlisted men, and their family members buried in the Post Cemetery.
