Pennellville Man Charged With Rape, Criminal Sex Act

State Police Investigators with the Bureau of Criminal Investigation have arrested William J. Parks, 37, from 37 Ainslee Drive, Pennellville, and charged him with Rape 1st degree, and Criminal Sex 1st degree, both class “B” felonies following an investigation. Parks is accused of raping and having forcible sexual contact with a young female victim.

Rally to ‘Save Michaud’ Brought Concerned Elected Officials, Community Members

After the sudden announcement of the intended closure of Michaud Residential Health Services in Fulton, the community banded together to show their support of the residents and employees that will be impacted. Organizer Marc Holliday said 113 jobs are on the line with the intended closure, though some of those staff members have been offered employment opportunities with St. Luke’s, the owner of Michaud whose CEO Terry Gorman cited financial struggles as the reason for closure. 65 residents, he continued, are forced to relocate to other accommodating facilities, some local and some not.

Ritchie Delivers $75,000 In Funding To Improve Public Safety

State Senator Patty Ritchie today (July 18) announced she has secured $75,000 in special funding that will help local law enforcement agencies and fire departments improve public safety in communities across Oswego County. Funds will be used by agencies and departments to make upgrades to their facilities, as well as purchase equipment that in turn, will help them to respond more efficiently and better protect the public from harm.

Legislature Cites Conners; He Thanks Everyone For Support

A little more than a month after what he called an “incredibly intense” adventurous two-week stretch in Africa in June, which included climbing to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, ascending to the fourth floor of the Oswego County Building was a piece of cake for Fulton native Tim Conners. “When I was sick (with cancer and eventually lost his sight), everyone came together for me. And that is why I believe in paying it forward and giving back. So I’d like to give a thank you to everyone who supported me, especially my parents,” he said.

Hundreds of young trees and shrubs were planted this summer and last fall in Fulton and Oswego as part of an urban tree project coordinated by the Oswego County Department of Community Development, Tourism and Planning and Atlantic States Legal Foundation. They included several varieties of young oak trees and shrubs near the Oswego Speedway. The project was funded by a grant from the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative through the USDA Forest Service.

Cities Receive Hundreds of Native Trees Through Great Lakes Grant Project

Over the past several months hundreds of native trees and shrubs have taken root in selected locations in Oswego and Fulton through an urban forestry project coordinated by the Oswego County Department of Community Development, Tourism and Planning. The department and the Atlantic States Legal Foundation, Inc. of Syracuse received a grant from the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative through the USDA Forest Service to plant more than 600 trees and shrubs at brownfield sites in Oswego County.
