Despite the quickly approaching winter weather, a large focus looms in Fulton on Lake Neatahwanta, the city’s “little lake by the big lake.” The focus redeveloped after a “polar plunge” event initially arranged by a volunteer organization to encourage people to plunge into Lake Neatahwanta has been canceled due to concerns that arose on the current safety status of the lake.

All Oswego County offices will be closed Thursday and Friday, Nov. 24 and 25, for Thanksgiving. The solid waste transfer stations, Bristol Hill Landfill and Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) will be closed Thursday, Nov. 24. All transfer stations will be closed Friday, Nov. 25.

CSEA, City Officials Reach Tentative Agreement

The Fulton Common Council unanimously passed a tentative agreement with one of three labor unions that represent the city of Fulton. The agreement with the CSEA allowed no increase in wages for the year 2015, a one time $500 increase for each employee in the year 2016, and a two-percent increase for each employee in the year 2017.

Oswego BOE Approves Public Hearing, Special District Vote

The Oswego City School District Tuesday night took another step toward relocating its administrative offices into a section of one of its elementary schools. The district is seeking voter approval to use money from its capital reserve fund to make renovations at two schools and to sell the Education Center. A public hearing on the plan will be held in early January.

Following a brief public comment session Monday night, the Common Council approved a public hearing on proposed Local Law No. 6 of the Year 2016, a local law amending Chapter 226, Taxicabs, of the Code of the City of Oswego, NY. Arrest made in Village of Phoenix shooting incident

State Police arrested Tommy Washington, of Syracuse, for 1 count of Robbery 1st degree, a class B Felony. Washington was arrested earlier today (Nov. 14) during an investigation by the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation and detectives with the Village of Phoenix Police Department. There are additional suspects that were involved in this incident with Mr. Washington and the State Police are requesting any additional information.
