September 2016 Was Warm, But ‘Not That Warm’

The temperature for September 2016 was warm, very warm. But overall, it’s not really warm, according to Bill Gregway, local observer for the National Weather Service. “The temperature last month came in at 65.0 degrees. That is 2.5 degrees higher than average,” he said. “I thought that would be up there. But, when I checked – it only came in 14th warmest since 1855. The warmest was (71.0 degrees) 1881.”

After 44 years of running NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week at the Moody Mile, Racing’s Biggest Party found a new home at Oswego Speedway in 2016. Advance tickets sales for the 2017 46th Annual Super DIRT Week will begin Friday.

Fastest Parade Ever in Oswego

Parades are noted as slow with many breaks. That wasn’t the case as nearly 30 Modifieds, Small Blocks, Sportsmen and Pro Stocks started off at City Line Road, headed to East Tenth Street and then up the Utica Street hill before turning on to West First Street, right on Bridge and headed back to the Oswego Speedway pits. Later, the dirt racers would take to the newly “paved” clay oval around 3 p.m.

Governor Cuomo Launches Campaign To Stop Sales, Use Of Synthetic Marijuana

Governor Andrew Cuomo today (Oct. 3) announced a new public awareness campaign encouraging New Yorkers to report the illegal sales of synthetic drugs, commonly referred to as synthetic marijuana. The campaign consists of ads that warn New Yorkers about the dangers associated with use of these man-made drugs and inform those who suffer from addiction that help is available.
