First Ever ‘Locktoberfest’ Welcomes Fall in Phoenix

October got a warm welcome as the first day of the month brought residents from the Village of Phoenix to their local waterfront to enjoy fall festivities at Phoenix’s first ever, “Locktoberfest.” Expanding on last year’s successful “Phoenix Fall Phestival,” sponsorship from the NYS Canal Corporation helped the event grow and be reintroduced under the new name, “Locktoberfest” running from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. (Oct 1) for a full day of fun.

During the early 1900s the buildings inside the old stone fort were abandoned and fell into ruin until renovated in 1928. This c.1918 photograph shows the eerie conditions inside the fort during World War I which no doubt unnerved lone sentries on guard duty.

Fort Ontario Ghost Reveal Set for Oct. 14 – 15

On Friday and Saturday evenings, Oct. 14 and 15, the Friends of Fort Ontario, Central New York Ghost Hunters, and NYS Parks will host the annual Ghost Reveal and Tour event at Fort Ontario State Historic Site in Oswego. At Fulton City Hall recently, a “tri-partisan” group of elected officials got together to encourage local residents to participate in this year’s elections. These office holders who are Republicans, Democrats and Conservatives decided to jointly send a message to the public to please “get out and vote” on November 8.

Fulton Schools Continue Lead Water Testing Under New State Regulations

Staff at Fulton City School District is hurriedly collecting water samples from all outlets throughout the district to satisfy new lead testing regulations in New York State. Signed into law by NYS Governor Andrew Cuomo on September 6, 2016, legislation Subpart 67-4 sets new regulations for all public schools grades Kindergarten-12 across the state in regards to lead testing of drinking water within school buildings.

Ritchie Secures $36,000 For School Music, Arts Programs
