The Corning native said she tried to take advantage of every opportunity that Oswego offered, including many made possible through support from The Fund for Oswego.

With Passion & Purpose: The Campaign for SUNY Oswego raised a total of $43,483,781, surpassing its most ambitious goal in college history by $3.48 million. This is the largest completed campaign among all SUNY comprehensive colleges, and the total is nearly double Oswego’s last campaign, which raised $23.8 million. “Oswego has never been as strong as it is today. We are tremendously proud of what has been accomplished through this campaign, With Passion & Purpose,” said SUNY Oswego President Deborah F. Stanley.

Nearly 100 people packed the ballroom at the McCrobie Building on Monday night to hear potential upgrades to the Port City’s waterfront. Several members if the public expressed their vision of what the waterfront should be in the future. Suggestions ranged from a beach to infrastructure improvements to activities and more. They hope to come up with a plan by early next year.

Band Instructor Charged With Selling School Musical Instruments

Today State Police arrested James Demauro of Syracuse for 25 counts of Falsifying Business Records and 25 counts of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property. While being employed as a band instructor at the Phoenix Middle School, he is accused of selling twenty-five band instruments belonging to the Phoenix School District to local pawn shops and then buying the instruments back.

Herbicides To Be Used Against Invading Water Chestnuts

Starting next week, herbicide will be used to help eradicate water chestnut growth in parts of the Oswego River. Water chestnuts are an invasive weed that grows on the surface of the water on several CNY rivers. These plants create an obstacle to boaters and prevent swimming in many areas along local rivers.
