Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today (July 25) announced a new I Love NY advertising campaign to promote Oswego Harborfest. The ad highlights the attractions of the free, four-day festival, including live music, fireworks, and the James E. Strates Midway. The 29th annual Harborfest will take place from July 28 to 31 on the shores of Lake Ontario.
Today, a petition in support of the inclusion of nuclear in Governor Andrew Cuomo’s Clean Energy Standard spearheaded by the Upstate Energy Jobs coalition, a group representing hundreds of business, education and labor leaders, surpassed the 3,500 signature mark which underscores the tremendous support that exists for keeping these plants open. Flanked by scores of nuclear energy supporters, Oswego Mayor William Barlow welcomed a large crowd to the Lake Ontario Conference Center for a press conference emphasizing the need for the immediate passage of the CES.

The Oswego County Health Department today (July 22) issued a warning that two adults and a pet dog were recently attacked by a rabid cat on DeMass Road near the Durham Bus Garage in Minetto. The small black female cat was captured and euthanized, and test results showed it was infected with the rabies virus.

On July 21, investigators with the Oswego County Drug Task Force in conjunction with the NYS Police Special Operations Response Team and the Fulton Police Department executed a narcotics related search warrant at 61 N. Sixth St. in Fulton. As a result, a total of 73 individual bags of heroin and approximately 6 grams of crack cocaine were seized.
