City Officials Welcome Reach Program Staff to Fulton

City officials including Mayor Ronald Woodward Sr. and his executive assistant, Kathy Trowbridge, the common council and code enforcement officers recently welcomed the staff of the Reach program as they gear up for their stay in the city of Fulton. Reach Mission Trips is preparing for two separate week-long youth camps in which campers will aim to rehabilitate dozens of homes in the Fulton area that belong to disadvantaged home owners.

Arrests Made In Kidnapping Case

On July 4, at approximately 9:15 p.m. officers of the Oswego City Police Department responded to Walmart, 341 SR 104 in Oswego, regarding a male who had informed store employees that he had been being held against his will. After an interview of the 24-year-old male victim, it was alleged that the victim had been sexually assaulted in the Greece, NY, area. According to the victim, following the assault, he was bound by possibly three individuals who then forced the victim to transport them to the Oswego area.

Oswego Tourism Board To Promote Port City at Harborfest

The chair of the city of Oswego Promotion & Tourism Advisory Board presented a plan that is designed to entice visitors who come to Oswego for an event to come back for others. The board is proposing to initially start promoting the Port City during the upcoming Harborfest, Ellen Clark, chair, said. By exposing the thousands of visitors to Harborfest to what else the city has to offer in the way of other events and festivals, she said will draw many back to Oswego.

June 2016 Was Warmer and Surprisingly Wetter Than Average

June 2016 was slightly warmer and surprisingly a bit wetter than average, according to Bill Gregway, local observer for the National Weather Service. The average temperature was just 0.1-degree warmer than average. Total precipitation for June came in at 0.61-inch greater than average. The rainfall “came in batches.”

County Officials Warn Residents to Stay Away from Bears

County Legislature Chairman Kevin Gardner is warning people in Oswego County that a black bear has been spotted roaming on the west side of Oswego and outlying areas over the past few days. A bear was seen crossing Ellen Street in Oswego on Tuesday (July 5), and recent bear sightings have been reported in the Town of Oswego, near Hannibal, and at Fair Haven State Park.

Aldi Pulaski Reopening Draws Big Crowd

Customers lined with their carts outside of the newly remodeled Aldi store in Pulaski, eager to see the store’s new layout and shop the low prices. The store has faithfully served the Pulaski community since its opening in September of 2000, and 16 years later closed for two months from May until July for a complete remodel. “This community has been giving back to us for years,” said District Manager of the Pulaski store, Michael Beach. “With the ever increasing need for fresh products, it was our time to give back to them with a modernized, more convenient store and I’d say we accomplished our task.”
