Fulton Officials Accept Aid for Bridge Repair, Pay Railroad Company

Fulton officials discussed increased federal aid for two city bridge repair projects during regular business at Tuesday’s (April 5) council meeting. The council unanimously authorized and approved increased funding for rehabilitation projects for both the North Sixth Street bridge over CSX railway and the Oneida Street bridge over the Oswego River.

OCO Raises $20,000 While Celebrating Being ‘Fifty and Fabulous’

The theme for this year’s annual Bowl-A-Fun OCO Fundraiser: “Fifty and Fabulous.” With George Hoffman from The Dinosaur 95.3 as emcee for the day, the event kicked off at Lakeview Lanes and provided food, drinks, cake, live entertainment, raffles and lots of fun. Different from previous years, the bowlers only competed in one flight of bowling and while the second flight usually competes, OCO instead hosted a 50th anniversary celebration open to the public who picked up a free ticket ahead of time.

Fulton Officials Approve Final School Budget

The Fulton City School District Board of Education unanimously approved the school’s final $70,336,500 budget for the 2016-2017 school year, a 2.47% increase from the current budget. The final budget approved by unanimous vote of the Board of Education also allowed for FCSD to replace retirements, lower primary sections class sizes to approximately 20 students per grade level section (kindergarten through second grade), maintain all current FTE positions from the current school year, and maintain all current educational programs, services and opportunities all while using less reserves than previous years.

Fulton Police Department Taking Back Unwanted Prescription Drugs

On April 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Fulton Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration will give the public its tenth opportunity in five years to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs. Fulton Council Tables Response to Public Hearing

At its regular meeting in March, the Fulton Common Council advertised for a public hearing to be held the following month in regards to amending the city’s non-conforming use law. Such amendment meant that rather than restoring a home to single-family occupancy after 12 months of being vacant, as is required by current law, the council would treat each residence on an individual basis and vote whether it was able to remain zoned as a multi-family home or be restored to single-family residency. After looking into the matter further, Mayor Ronald L. Woodward reconsidered his initial opinion and has decided to table the council’s response.
