Fulton Man Charged With Felony Driving While Intoxicated

On Sunday March 27, at approximately 1:19 a.m., State Police in Fulton stopped a vehicle on State Route 481 in the town of Volney, for failing to dim its headlights and operating erratically. Investigation at the scene determined the operator, Robert A. Wavle, 40, of Fulton, was intoxicated, according to police.

Oswego Man Identified As Victim of Mexico Crash

UPDATED: The Oswego County Sheriff’s Office says 51-year-old Michael J. Fredette of Oswego was pronounced dead at University Upstate Hospital on March 26 following a rollover crash in Mexico Saturday evening. The driver, 51-year-old Douglas B. Horton of Mexico, was arrested for driving while intoxicated, deputies said.

Appeals Court Upholds City’s Ownership Of Cahill Building

The New York State Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Fourth Judicial Department, unanimously affirmed a lower court ruling that dismissed a legal claim by local developer Thomas Millar asserting his ownership of the historic Cahill Building. The appellate ruling means that the city of Oswego retains title to the property located along the Oswego River, Mayor Billy Barlow announced today (March 26).

‘Smoke Free For My Baby and Me’ Program Marks Successful First Year

Nearly three-quarters of the women who participated in the “Smoke Free for My Baby and Me” program were able to quit smoking, the Oswego County County Health Department reported today (March 25). The project, which was implemented last May, is a partnership among several community agencies. Initial findings reveal a 73 percent success rate among participants to quit smoking.

2 Housing Rehabilitation Grants Totaling $450,000 to Aid Homeowners in Oswego County

The New York State Affordable Housing Corporation recently approved two grants in the amounts of $250,000 and $200,000 to the Oswego Housing Development Council to help finance home improvements for 30 single-family homes in Oswego County. Nestles Demolition Becomes Visible to Public

A bittersweet day for many long term Fulton residents, as the former Nestles buildings can now be seen being demolished from Route 481, the main road the buildings sit on. According to Fulton City Mayor, Ronald Woodward Sr. this is not the first day of demolition as much of the work already completed was done in the back of the buildings to be able to access the front. “They have been demoing in the back for a while. The buildings in the front that are being done now had a lot hooked to them in the back, all of that needed to be done first,” said Woodward. Traffic was affected for the first time today, as Fulton City Police Officers monitored the road and traffic flow, creating one lane usage.
