Emily stood in front of the legislature and the many citizens in attendance and with confidence and poise spoke to the plight of the homeless in Oswego. Emily is a caring, compassionate person who is not afraid to stand up for what she feels is a need in our community.
Thanks to the tremendous outpouring of support we received from the community and the tireless effort of our many volunteers, the Annual Stuff-A-Bus Campaign, a partnership between Oswego County school districts and United Way of Greater Oswego County, was a resounding success.
Watching the Olympics was a thrill for us. For 17 days 204 countries competed for a gold, silver or bronze metal with 85 of those countries earning a medal and 8 of those countries for the first time.
This past Tuesday the reconstruction of the Broadway Bridge in Fulton began. Frequent users will soon adjust to the changes from four lanes to two, no left turn on West First Street off the bridge, and a new set of lights on West Second Street.
The August 12 meeting of the Oswego County Legislature was a true display of the reckless and complete disregard the leadership and many of the Republican legislators have for the process of governing for the people.
We would like to publicly thank two young people for taking the time to care for and improve the appearance of our city.

The United Way of Oswego County extends a sincere thank you to the many volunteers and sponsors whose commitment to the United Way 2012 Golf Classic again made the event an outstanding success.
The recent action of the Common Council to table the Bus Ordinance still leaves us in need of a solution to the problem of house parties. I would like to make a suggestion that might help control the problem.
I would like to remind the residents of Oswego County that the village of Pulaski will host the August session of the Oswego County Legislature at the H. Douglas Barclay Courthouse on August 9 at 2 p.m.
