Don’t Wait, Get Screened Today

Colon cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related death in men and women in New York State, but it doesn’t have to be. Colon cancer can be prevented through screening. Abnormal growths in the colon and rectum can be found and removed before they turn into cancer; and if found early, colon cancer is highly curable. But the key is getting screened.

A Visit From A Legislator

On January 10, in a blink of an eye (or stub of my toe) my life changed. On that day, I fell at work and fractured and dislocated my right hip and fractured my right humorous bone of my shoulder. Not my best day.After hip replacement surgery on January 15 and a four-day stay in St. Joe’s Hospital, I was moved to rehab. I was accepted by Seneca Manor.

Since 1992, the Greater Pulaski Community Endowment Fund, through the generous support of the people of Pulaski, has provided grants to support local nonprofits. Through the union of individual donations, the support of the John Ben Snow Memorial Trust and the expert management of the Central New York Community Foundation, more than $315,000 in grants has been awarded to benefit our region.

Oswego County Land Bank Helps Restore Communities

Land banks have been proven to be a solution for returning properties to the most productive and economical use for the respective communities and get them back on the tax rolls.

Oswego County Land Bank was formed in 2016 and in just one short year has impacted more than two dozen properties throughout the county: sold and put 10 properties back on the tax rolls, completed two full rehabs with seven more in process and completed 12 demolitions.

We Need To Preserve Emergency Air Medical Services

Recently, New York Assemblyman Will Barclay wrote a column (Dec. 4, Legislation Seeks to Protect Patients From High Air Ambulance Costs) about his proposed model legislation that would impact air ambulance services and the patients they serve. While the Assemblyman’s proposal seeks to address the financial burden insurance companies sometimes place on patients when they don’t fully cover emergency care, it unfortunately fails to address the underlying problem: inadequate reimbursement rates.
