On behalf of the Fulton Service Clubs’ Memorial Day Salute Committee, I thank the people of the Fulton area who attended and participated in the various events sponsored by the four Fulton Service Clubs over the Memorial Day Weekend.

The Oswego Public Library Board of Trustees and staff would like to express our appreciation for your recent support for the library’s budget for the year 2014-2015.

It has come to my attention that Oswego County BOCES is scaling back on some of the automotive trades classes offered to adults. BOCES trains adults who have lost their jobs, giving them the opportunity through classroom education and “hands-on” knowledge/training to learn new skills in the auto repair business. Now that BOCES is undergoing a renovation project, only 5 of the current 8 garage bays will be available to youth and adult students.

The BUC School is a different kind of school. It encourages kids from seventh to eighth grade to study and be able to function better in their adult lives. This is what we call the Big Picture” School. Kids don’t just memorize facts from textbooks and later forget all about them afterwards.

Don’t ask, don’t tell. That is the motto of the Oswego County Legislature. It’s just a little bit different with them it is more, if you don’t ask we won’t tell. If you do ask, it is like you just committed a capital crime. Let me explain if I can in as few words as possible.

The Oswego County Environmental Management Council would like to thank all the individuals, families and groups that participated in our Earth Week Cleanups, helping make our county greener and cleaner. The activities show a pride and caring of community.

The Proposed Legislative Bill A.6971 regarding Synthetic Drugs will be voted on in the Health Committee in Albany next week. Your phone calls and email letters are urgently needed this weekend and Monday morning.

Your simple business transaction with a Girl Scout is helping her to build a lifetime of real world skills including money management, decision making, goal setting, business ethics and communications. All funds earned stay local. Each troop determines how to spend their cookie profits and many will travel and experience camp together. And they’ll be investing in the community.

Connected to our biggest trading partner, Canada, and to the rest of the world through the Great Lakes and the St. Lawrence Seaway, the area is our nation’s manufacturing and agricultural powerhouse.  Taken as a whole, the economy of the eight Great Lakes States and the two Canadian Great Lakes provinces represents the fourth largest economy in the world, behind only the United States, China and Japan.
