Just more than a week from Opening Day, Oswego Speedway officials have released the handicapping procedure for the inaugural running of the Jim Shampine Memorial Twin 50s for the Supermodifieds scheduled for May 26. ‘Twin’ feature events have a rich history at the ‘Steel Palace’ and the duel 50-lappers set for next weekend will mark the first-ever event of its kind at Oswego since 1972.
Our senior night we recognized five seniors who will be graduating in a month from the OHS. Seniors Cassandra Romeo, Grace Bruns, Madison Bullard, Hannah Koster and Maddie Taylor.
Any and all divisions included on the speedway’s 2018 schedule are eligible to take part in the four-hour long practice. Grandstand admission is free for testing while pit passes will be available for $25.
Coming in riding a wave of disastrous luck, which saw a blown engine at Can-Am Speedway on Friday night, Thompson and team finally prevailed topping an ultra-competitive Fulton feature field consisting of veterans Zach Sobotka, Alan Fink, Willy Decker Jr., Mike Button and Mike Phelps.
Oswego Speedway officials have announced format changes ahead of the 27th annual Bud Light Classic 75 for the Pathfinder Bank Small Block Supermodifieds on September 2. The race will remain 75 laps in 2018, however the lineup and qualifying formats for the biggest Small Block Super show of the season will now change.
In the Tracey Road Equipment DIRTcar 358 Modifieds, Larry Wight parked his FX Caprara Chevy/Tracey Road Equipment/NAPA/Penske Racing Shocks/LJL Kevlar Racing Engines/No.99L in victory lane. The win was anything but easy as Wight and Tom Sears Jr. had a side-by-side battle lap after lap with Wight finally making the winning pass on lap 27 in the 35-lap feature.

Following a breakthrough 2017 campaign in the Chris Osetek Racing No. 55 Supermodified, New York native turned North Carolina resident Keith Shampine will look to improve even further at the Oswego Speedway this year after grabbing the first two feature wins of his career, the pole for the Budweiser International Classic 200, and a third place effort in the championship standings just one season ago.
This (May 8) game was dedicated to our beloved trainer Michele Wink and we were honored to be able to have her husband, Tim, at the game. It meant a lot to get the win tonight and to have him and so many family and friends who came out as well.
Six members of the Oswego State men’s lacrosse team have earned All-Conference honors from the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC), including Kevin O’Donnell, who was named the conference’s Rookie of the Year. Teddy Phillips was named to the first team, Adam Burlew, Bobby Emerson and Tim Schof collected second team honors and Kyle O’Connor received an honorable mention.
