The nationally-ranked and top-seeded Oswego State men’s ice hockey team dropped its third-straight game with a 3-1 loss to No. 5 Fredonia in a SUNYAC Championship semifinal matchup on Saturday night in the Marano Campus Center Arena. With the defeat, the Lakers move to 18-6-2 on the year while the Blue Devils improve to 13-10-4.
The Oswego State women’s ice hockey team upset second-seeded Buffalo State, 5-0, on the road on Saturday in the first round of the NEWHL Championship. With the shutout, the Lakers improve their record to 12-12-2 on the season, while Buffalo State ends its season at 13-11-2.
Five members of the nationally ranked Oswego State men’s ice hockey team have been selected for the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) All-Conference teams, as voted on by league coaches.

The Oswego State men’s basketball team defeated Geneseo, 95-84, on Tuesday night to advance to the SUNYAC Semifinal. Ian Schupp notched his 1,000th career point in the postseason victory. The senior reached the milestone on a 3-pointer from the corner to give the Lakers a 78-63 advantage in the second half.
The Fulton Youth Basketball shooting and offensive skills clinic yielded roughly 75 participants from pre-kindergarten through sixth grade. The turnout was an increase from the number of participants that attended last year; a statistic that keeps growing annually, just as the participation numbers for the Fulton Youth Basketball league, according to program director Sean Broderick. Held at the city-owned Fulton War Memorial, kids flooded the gym Monday and Tuesday (Feb. 19 and 20) to learn skills centered on the fundamentals of shooting, dribbling, and passing. Even more so, Broderick said, the kids had plenty of fun.
The No. 3/4 Oswego State men’s ice hockey fell to Plattsburgh, 1-0, at home on Saturday night to conclude the regular season. With the loss, Oswego moves to 18-5-2 on the season and 13-2-1 in SUNYAC play, while Plattsburgh improves to 13-11-1 overall and 7-8-1 in conference action.
The Oswego State men’s basketball team rode a hot first half and held off Geneseo late for a 65-58 victory on Saturday afternoon in Max Ziel Gymnasium. With the victory, the Lakers close the regular season at 13-12 overall and 10-8 in the SUNYAC while the Knights drop to 14-11, 11-7.
