With the announcement of the tentative five-race schedule that will be the Lighthouse Lanes SBS Series Tour in 2018, Proud Motorsports is excited to announce team owner Tim Proud’s return to the driver’s seat as part of series events this coming season.
The No. 5/5 Oswego State men’s ice hockey team defeated Cortland, 5-1, on Friday night to clinch Head Coach Ed Gosek’s 300th career win. The win moves Gosek’s career record to 300-88-26 and the Lakers’ season record to 12-3-1, while Cortland falls to 7-10-0 this season.
Already penciled in, the Small Block Supermodifieds will return to the Evans Mills Speedway in the North Country for the second Annual Lighthouse Lanes SBS Series ‘Fall Brawl 50’ set to take place on September 16. The decision by Evans Mills to race on Saturday nights this season will not affect this event.
Oswego Speedway Pathfinder Bank SBS veteran and 2017 Bud Light Classic 75 top six qualifier Josh Kerr will hold his team fundraiser during the Daytona 500 on February 18 at Lighthouse Lanes in Oswego.
Oswego scored two goals in each of the contest’s first two periods to lead 4-0 heading into the final intermission. The Lakers surrendered the only goal against early in the third period but responded with three tallies of their own to cruise to the 7-1 final.
With season ticket packages on the way for the 2018 season, Oswego Speedway officials have released admission and pit pricing for the track’s 10 regular events set to take place between the months of May and September, beginning with the speedway’s 68th annual Opening Day on May 26.
The Oswego State women’s ice hockey team tied Plymouth State, 3-3, in overtime on Wednesday night. With the tie, the Lakers move to 7-8-1 on the season, while Plymouth State moves to 4-7-4 overall.
The No. 5/5 Oswego State men’s ice hockey team (11-3-1 overall, 6-0-1 SUNYAC) will host the Cortland Red Dragons (7-9 Overall, 3-6 SUNYAC) at 7 p.m. on Friday night in the Marano Campus Center Arena. It is Youth Night for the Lakers, with complimentary youth tickets (17 and under) available with purchase of an adult tickets by calling the box office 315-312-3073 or in person at the Marano Center Box Office windows.
The Oswego State men’s basketball team held the New Paltz Hawks without a field goal for the first 13:27 of the game in cruising to a 73-57 win. The Lakers up their record to 8-8 overall and 5-4 in conference while snapping a three-game losing streak. New Paltz falls to 4-11 (1-7) on the season.
The Oswego State women’s ice hockey team traveled to Potsdam on Sunday for a rescheduled game, falling to the Bears 3-1. With the loss, the Lakers drop to 7-8 on the year and 4-4 in the NEWHL while Potsdam improves to 9-5-1, 2-5-1.
