The Oswego State men’s basketball team defeated New Paltz on Friday night, 84-69, behind Tyler Pierre’s double-double. With the victory, the Lakers move to 7-5 overall and win their fourth straight conference game to improve to 4-1.
A newly formed two-car team is preparing for competition at Oswego Speedway in 2018. However, the names and faces will be familiar to anyone who follows the Pathfinder Bank SBS series. Greg O’Connor and Tony Pisa will handle the driving duties for the G.O. Premiere Motorsports team, co-owned by O’Connor and Stephen Flack.
Opened up with a triple header of Supermodified, Race of Champions Modified and Small Block Supermodified action back on May 13, Oswego Speedway’s 2017 campaign did not disappoint as fans were treated to fantastic racing each and every Saturday night. All in all, there was a brand new champion plus six new feature winners throughout the course of the season including a brand new Budweiser International Classic champion.
To start the season, for the first time since 1972, the speedway will hold Jim Shampine Memorial Twin 50 events for the Novelis Supermodifieds alongside a 35-lap Tony White Memorial lid lifter for the Pathfinder Bank SBS division on Opening Day. These two races on Memorial Day Weekend will kick off the speedway’s 2018 ‘Road to the Championship’ points campaign on a rather exciting note.
Set to take place on August 11, the speedway will reserve this ‘Road to the Championship’ program as an action-packed evening full of family friendly events for all ages in an effort to help fans interact with drivers and teams while introducing the Supermodifieds to new generations of young race fans.
The No. 2/3 Oswego State men’s ice hockey team dropped a 4-3 contest at Middlebury College in the title game of the Panthers’ tournament on Sunday evening at Kenyon Arena. It is just the Lakers’ second loss of the campaign, as they fall to 9-2-1 while the Panthers improve to 3-7-0.
The nationally-ranked Oswego State men’s ice hockey (9-1-1) returned from a short winter break hiatus and did not miss a step in a 6-2 win over Neumann University (4-6-1) on the first day of Middlebury College’s Holiday Tournament on Saturday afternoon.
The Oswego State men’s basketball team had its five-game win streak snapped with a 66-63 loss to Utica College in the title of the Pioneers’ tournament on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Lakers fall to 6-5 on the year while Utica goes to 5-4 overall and 4-0 on its home court.
The Oswego State men’s basketball team (6-4) returned from a 13-day hiatus by extending its win streak to five with a 77-70 victory over SUNY Canton (2-9) in the second game of the Utica College Classic on Friday evening.
This season, locally owned and operated restaurant ‘Dino’s House of Burgers’ located in downtown Oswego will be the team’s official ‘burger joint’ as this popular new location will now join the list of businesses onboard the Proud No. 54 aiming to get to victory lane at the ‘Steel Palace.’
