In the 35-lap Tracey Road Equipment DIRTcar Modified feature Jimmy Phelps started 14th and would work his way to second place on a lap 14 restart that started a great battle for the lead with Tommy Sears Jr.. Phelps was finally able to get by Sears on lap 26 in traffic. Once out front and no yellows the rest of the way Phelps pulled away from the field for his second win of the year.

Oswego Speedway’s Novelis Supermodified Budweiser International Classic 200 purse, which annually pushes the $100,000 mark including monies and contingencies, will now guarantee a minimum of $600 to each non-qualified entry as long as that entry participates in one of two last chance semi-finals on September 4.
The second round of the popular Novelis Fan Can Chase is this Saturday as a part of Oswego Speedway’s Independence Weekend Grand Prix special presented by the Walker Enterprises D-Bus. Can collections will take place outside of the Speedway’s main entrance from 4-6 p.m. with collections made by Scriba Bottle & Can Return.
Oswego Speedway’s Independence Weekend Grand Prix 75-lap special has long been a popular mid-season landing spot for out of town or first time season competitors and that looks to again be the case this Saturday as Ohio racers Tim Jedrzejek and Gene Lee Gibson as well as Idaho rookie Davey Hamilton Jr. are expected to make their first starts of 2016 in Novelis Supermodified action.
The Basketball Coaches Association of New York released its Coaches of the Year list in early June, recognizing Oswego State men’s basketball head coach Jason Leone. Leone was named the NCAA Division III Men’s Coach of the Year in New York State.
The Fulton Force elite travel baseball team started its 2016 season by capturing the NY Gold Prospect Tournament with a walk-off 4-3 victory over Team Valle Elite. Force started the tournament by defeating the Syracuse Jr. Chiefs on Friday night 9-0 with a combine no-hitter, and then defeated the Titans (Buffalo) 1-0 and Team Valle (Rochester) 9-8 on Saturday to capture the #1 seed going into the semi finals on Sunday.
