Saturday night at the Fulton Speedway fans were greeted with great weather and close racing on the ‘High Banks’ that featured close racing, win streaks and first time winners. In the Tracey Road Equipment Modifieds, Tom Sears Jr. took the lead from Chad Phelps on lap 20 and then had to hold off furious challenges from first Pat Ward and then Billy Decker to win his second popular feature of the year.

Oswego Kartway’s Triple Crown will continue Friday night with the running of the annual ‘Battle at the Bullring’ presented by RJ Kart Sales and Service. The Kartway’s Triple Crown is comprised of the ‘King of the Kartway’, which took place on July 10, tomorrow’s ‘Battle at the Bullring’, and the Oswego Kartway Classic which will take place during the Speedway’s Budweiser Classic Week on September 3.
It feels like the 2015 racing season just started. Coming into August 1, there is only six point events left to decide the 2015 track champions before gearing up for the 30th Annual Sunoco Fulton Ethanol Facility Outlaw 200 Weekend presented by SUNY Canton on October 2-3.
With the recent announcement of Race of Champions Weekend changing venues for 2015, Oswego Speedway’s track champions will now be crowned during one action packed Fall Championship afternoon at the ‘Steel Palace’ on September 19. The Fall Championship 125 will feature the final point events of the season for the Novelis Supermodifieds and the Pathfinder Bank SBS.
Nominations are being accepted for additional candidates for 2016 induction into the Oswego High School Athletic Hall of Fame. The Oswego Buccaneer Boosters sponsor the hall of fame and the induction ceremony. All nominations are held by the hall of fame committee for future consideration.
The Oswego Speedway Old-Timers Reunion will celebrate in a big way come August 8, as the reunion will put on its 10th annual celebration just hours before Oswego Speedway’s 65th Anniversary special, which will feature grandstand admission of only $5. The reunion, once again coordinated by longtime Speedway faithful’s Jim Ferlito and Jim Liccardi, will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on August 8 at Lighthouse Lanes,
The Fulton Force 16U (15-3) Elite travel baseball team finished first in the Cooperstown Baseball World Championships on July 23 at Oneonta University. The tournament was a weeklong event, hosting teams from the US and other countries. Force went 7-1 during the week. The Force 16U will play local when it continues its summer tournament schedule this week in Baldwinsville, July 30 through August 2.
