The Oswego State men’s lacrosse team remained perfect on its first weekend of the season with a 6-5 victory over host United State Merchant Marine Academy on Sunday afternoon at Brooks Stadium. With the win, the Lakers go to 2-0 on the season while the Mariners fall to 1-1.

The second-seeded Oswego State men’s ice hockey team fell to No. 1 Plattsburgh 2-1 in the SUNYAC Championship title game on Saturday night in Strafford Ice Arena. With the loss, Oswego goes to 18-4-4 on the season. Men’s ice hockey will now wait until 10:30 a.m. on Monday for the NCAA selection show to see if it earns one of three available Pool-C bids to the national tournament.

The third-seeded Oswego State women’s ice hockey team (19-7-1) ended its season with a strong effort against the second-ranked team in the nation, Plattsburgh (22-2-2), falling 4-2 in the ECAC West semifinal on Saturday night in Elmira College’s Murray Athletic Center Ice Arena.

Ohio Supermodified pilot Mike McVetta is hard at work preparing his homebuilt machine to take on double duty action during Oswego Speedway’s 59th annual Budweiser International Classic Weekend set for September 4-6.

The Oswego State men’s lacrosse team opened the season with an 8-1 win against SUNY Maritime in a neutral site game in Uniondale. It was Maritime’s second game of the year, dropping it to 1-1 on the year.

The un-official start to the 2015 Oswego Speedway racing season is set for March 14-15 with the annual Motorsports Expo at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse. Oswego Speedway will once again feature a multi-car display at the Expo, along with two Supermodified simulators for fans to take a set of laps at the famed ‘Steel Palace.’

The Oswego State women’s lacrosse team fell to the Rochester Institute of Technology 11-9 on the road Wednesday afternoon. This marks the first loss of the season for the Lakers as the team falls to 1-1 on the season.

Sobus Racing and driver Brian Sobus will be holding their Novelis Supermodified team fundraiser for the upcoming Oswego Speedway season on Saturday at Lighthouse Lanes in Oswego with portions of the proceeds going to benefit young Julian Ross, a nine year old Oswego boy battling stage four neuroblastoma.

After a successful 2014 season in the small block supermodified division at Oswego Speedway, J.J. Andrews will once again team up with Billy Whittaker CARS and TRUX, of Central Square, for the 2015 season. Andrews will seek his first championship in his 18th season as a driver in the division.
