The State University of New York Athletic Conference has named Oswego State field hockey goalie Sarita Charap its Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending October 5, 2014. This is the second time the freshman has earned the recognition in just six weeks. In the Lakers’ only game during the week, Charap held host Keystone College scoreless.
The Oswego State athletic department’s community service program has been recognized in the Athletics category by the State University of New York Chief Student Affairs Officers and the Office of University Life. Oswego received the acknowledgement at the Outstanding Student Affairs Program Awards on Monday, Oct. 6, in Saratoga Springs.

Matt Sheppard lived up to his nickname ‘Super Matt’ Saturday night at the Fulton Speedway winning his first ever Sunoco Fulton Ethanol Facility Outlaw 200 presented by SUNY Canton. Sheppard took the lead from early leader Billy Decker on lap-23 and from there would never give up the top spot over the final 177 laps.

With the tie, Oswego remains without a blemish in conference play at 2-0-2 while standing at 5-4-2 overall. The Cardinals move to 6-3-1 on the year and 2-0-1 in SUNYAC action.
