It’s On For The Modified Championship This Saturday At Fulton Speedway

Pride tryout – commitment day scheduled

The Pride travel softball program will have a tryout/commitment day from 3 – 5 p.m. on September 14 at the Oswego High School varsity softball field for any girl interested in playing Pride travel softball next summer. In case of rain, the session will be held at the following week, September 21 at the same time and location.

With 5 days remaining until the International Classic, the countdown continues with No. 5, featuring the iconic last ride of Jim Shampine’s rear engine 8-ball at Oswego Speedway with Warren Coniam at the controls in the 1979 International Classic. Going into the ’79 Classic, Shampine had a decision to make as to whether he would drive the rear engine 8-ball, or his winning front engine radical offset machine in the 200. Shampine chose to drive the front engine roadster, tabbing Canadian Classic champion Coniam to drive the pusher.

Phelps Holds Off Hard-Charging Decker For Fulton Speedway Modified Win

Saturday night at the Fulton Speedway there were two big winners in the Tracey Road Equipment DIRTcar Modifieds. First was Chad Phelps. Phelps battled in the top-five all race long in the 35-Lap feature that had the winner in doubt until the checkers. The second winner of the night was Billy Decker. In his heat race he took a wild ride that had his car at least 15 feet in the air, landing hard on the front and then ending up on his roof. He pulled out his back-up car and brought home a second place finish on a broken left-rear shock.
