Two photo collages containing a total of 25 photos of Jim Shampine from his earliest years through his racing career are going to be raffled off to benefit Families Fighting Flu. Jim’s grandson, Joseph Marotta IV, died of the H1N1 flu in 2009. This coming Saturday they will at Lighthouse Lanes in Oswego starting at 10 a.m. for the Oldtimers Reunion and will then be moved to Oswego Speedway.
Raffle tickets are $10 and will be available at both Lighthouse Lanes and Oswego Speedway while the collages are on display.
With the success of Oswego Speedway’s Jim Shampine Memorial broadcast on Speed Sport and MAVTV earlier this month, all partners have agreed to expand coverage of the ‘Steel Palace’ to include the August 2 running of the 28th annual $10,000 to win Mr. Novelis Supermodified event presented by Davis Bros. Inc.
After another night of rain last weekend, Oswego Kartway returns to action Friday night with the annual King of the Kartway title event with beautiful trophies on the line from Platinum Promotional. All 13 of the Kartway’s divisions will be in action Friday, presented by RJ Kart Sales, battling for the right to wear the crown and be called King of the Kartway.
When Oswego Speedway’s King of Wings VI spectacular takes the green Saturday night, it will feature the 2014 championship leaders from the International Supermodified Association, the Midwest Supermodified Association, as well as Oswego Speedway.
The NEAC Conference announced its 2013-14 NEAC Scholar-Athlete selections on Tuesday, with 511 student-athletes from the conference’s 16 member institutions receiving the honor. In order to qualify, student-athletes must have maintained a combined 3.4 GPA or higher over the 2013-14 fall and spring semesters.
This Saturday Fulton Speedway is ready to crank up the racing intensity at the Route 57 Speed plant just south of the city. On that day Tracey Road Equipment – A-Verdi Storage Containers and McDonalds Restaurants presents the ground shaking STP World Of Outlaws Sprint Cars along with the ‘Salute To The King.’
Otto Sitterly, Oswego Speedway’s six-time and defending Novelis Supermodified track champion, will be teaming with Dave Shullick Jr’s. Bodnar built winged Supermodified team for Saturday night’s King of Wings VI summer spectacular at the ‘Steel Palace.’
