Oswego Speedway and the United States Auto Club have partnered to bring back the Eastern Honda Performance Development Midget series to the ‘Steel Palace,’ joining the $10,000 to win Mr. Novelis Supermodified program on August 2. The USAC Eastern HPD Midget calendar features 30 dates from April through November, encompassing more than a dozen venues in five states.
The Oswego State men’s basketball team used a last second traditional 3-point play from Daniel Ross to beat Buffalo State 72-70 on Friday night. Oswego’s win improves the team’s record to 12-6 on the year but more importantly to 6-5 in conference play.
The Oswego State women’s basketball team were overpowered by Buffalo State on the road Friday night, falling 86-49 to the Bengals. With the loss, the Lakers drop to 6-12, 2-9 in the SUNYAC while Buffalo State improves to 14-3, 9-1.
The Oswego boys’ hockey team and both bowling squads had impressive wins on Thursday. Post season positions are at stake for the Oswego boys’ hockey team and a key contest was held on Thursday night at Crisafulli Rink. The bowling teams performed solidly against Liverpool with each sweeping the three points.
Fulton Speedway Management is pleased to announce that 305 Sprint cars have been added to the weekly line-up of classes beginning this season. The class will compete all season beginning with the regular season point opener on May 3. A few events will also be held at Brewerton Speedway to complement the Fulton schedule.
Hockey, basketball and bowling shared the spotlight in recent Oswego High School sports action. The Oswego boys’ varsity hockey team captured a crucial game on Tuesday with a 5-0 blanking of host Clinton. In the third game of the bowling match, three of our five bowlers had a 279 game meaning that each one only had one frame that wasn’t a strike.
The Fulton Softball Association’s Annual Captain’s Information Meeting for the 2014 Season will take place on February 9 from noon until 2 p.m. in the Community Room at the City Municipal Building, 141 S. First St. Team rules and registration packets will be available at this time.
The first of several Oswego Speedway race team fundraisers is set, as Strong Racing announced plans for their FUNdraiser to be held on February 15 at Lighthouse Lanes in Oswego.
The Oswego State men’s basketball team dropped to .500 (5-5) in SUNYAC play with an 81-73 loss at Geneseo on Tuesday night. Overall, the Lakers are now 11-6 while the Knights improve to 14-2 on the season and 8-1 in conference play.
The Oswego State women’s basketball team struggled at Geneseo on Tuesday night, falling 83-58 in a conference matchup. Oswego’s loss drops the team to 6-11 overall with a 2-8 SUNYAC mark while the Knights improve to 11-5, 5-4.
