Mother’s Day weekend will have added meaning at the Fulton Speedway for the local area Girl Scouts. For the second straight year dirt racer Katelyn Kane will host the Girl Scouts with a meet and greet. Kane will appear on the local talk show Bridge Street at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

The Fulton Speedway opened the 2013 season with a flurry. Larry Wight out ran teammate Billy Decker for a popular Tracey Road Equipment Big Block Modified win, while two other features were decided with last a lap pass and a win by .006 of a second.

Jimmy Phelps out of Baldwinsville turned around opening night disappointment after ignition problems sidelined the defending track champion. On Friday night, Phelps grabbed the lead at the start of the 35 lap Tracey Road Equipment Big Block Modified feature and dominated the entire way, serving notice he won’t be easy to dethrone as champion.
