Five players on the Oswego State men’s basketball team (12-2, 5-2 SUNYAC) scored in double digits on Friday night to lead the Lakers to a 76-68 lead over Brockport (9-6, 4-4 SUNYAC), their second victory over the Golden Eagles this season.
Meagan Stover (Sr., Lake George, N.Y.) scored a career-high 26 points as the Oswego State women’s basketball team (12-2, 6-1 SUNYAC) defeated Brockport (5-10, 2-6 SUNYAC), 60-50, Friday night at Max Ziel Gymnasium.
Junior Mady Paul (Incline Village, Nevada) scored a pair of goals to lift the Oswego State women’s ice hockey team (8-8-1, 7-4-0 ECAC West) over Buffalo State (5-10-1, 2-5-0), 3-0, on Friday night at the Campus Center Ice Arena.
The fifth-ranked Oswego State men’s ice hockey team (14-3-0, 8-1-0 SUNYAC) raced out to a 4-0 lead in the first nine minutes and never looked back as it defeated Cortland (6-10-2, 2-6-1 SUNYAC) by the score of 5-2 Friday night.
The Oswego varsity basketball teams had a tough time with Nottingham on Tuesday night. The Lady Bucs lost at home 49-24 while the boys fell 58-57 in the Bulldogs’ house.
The Oswego State Athletic Department will be sponsoring its first-ever Military Appreciation Nights on Jan. 25 when the Laker men’s ice hockey team plays Brockport at 7 p.m. and Jan. 26 when the Laker men’s and women’s basketball teams play Cortland starting at 6 p.m.
RACE 101’s class of 2012 graduated this past weekend and Katelyn Kane, a modified driver from Central New York, was awarded the top honor; Premier Driver.
Following a weekend in Division III men’s ice hockey that saw several of the top teams lose, Oswego State is ranked fifth in the USCHO.com Division III and D3hockey.com polls.
