After testing the Strong Racing Supermodified at Oswego Speedway back on Sunday, May 6, young Jarett Andretti hoped he would one day have a chance to race a Novelis Supermodified at Oswego Speedway. Now, he will have his chance.
Friday night at the Brewerton Speedway, fans were treated to one of the most exciting Tracey Road Equipment Big Block Modified events to date. In the 35 lap feature, the race saw lead changes and battles up front where you could have thrown a blanket over the top-runners for most of the race that went caution free.
Two come from behind victories provided the Lady Bucs softball and lacrosse teams to advance in Section III post season play. It was a tough week for the Bucs as the boys’ varsity lacrosse team lost to ESM in the Section III quarterfinals by a 7-6 count and the varsity baseball team was eliminated by Syracuse.
Two-time Oswego Speedway Novelis Supermodified track champion Joe Gosek has been behind the wheel at the lakeside oval since 1980, and over the years has visited Chris Nelson Insurance Victory Lane on several occasions; 40 to be exact.
Rollergirls and zombies will invade Oswego’s Crisafulli Rink when the Oz Roller Girls host the North Country Lumber Jills at Dawn of the Derby on June 2. Doors will open at 5 p.m. The bout begins at 6 p.m.
After another exciting weekend of racing at the Brewerton and Fulton Speedways, Chad Dupra and Bob Reis has earned this week’s” NAPA Know How “performers of the week.
Racing events will be in honor of three great Oswego Speedway racers: The Jim Shampine Memorial 75 for Supermodifieds, Richie Evans Memorial 75 for Modifiieds, and the Tony White Memorial 35 for the SBS Series.
In the past two seasons this recycling partnership has surpassed the half million mark in recyclable cans thanks to the generous race fans that have donated an average of over 100,000 cans for each of the past six seasons in exchange for race tickets and other Oswego Speedway prizes.
NAPA is once again stepping up in a big way for the Brewerton Speedway. On Friday, August 31, NAPA Auto Parts will present the “NAPA Winners Classic” – a race open only to Tracey Road Equipment Big Block Modified feature winners during the 2012 racing season.
