Oswego Speedway had not seen the likes of an Andretti on its racing surface since 1967, but that all changed on Sunday as Jarett Andretti, 19, took his first laps not only at the Speedway but in a Supermodified.

Senior left hander Ashlee Wapen threw a two-hit shutout while striking out eleven as the Oswego High School softball team defeated Syracuse West 10-0  in a steady drizzle at  Meachem Field on Monday afternoon.

McDonalds will have a booth at both tracks this weekend with merchandise for sale with the proceeds going to the Syracuse area Ronald McDonald House. Through the generosity of people throughout the area they are in the process of building a brand new house to better serve the families who have a child in one of the local hospitals.

Billy Decker and Jeremy Pitcher served notice that they have no plans of giving up their 2011 track championships in the Tracey Road Equipment Big Block Modifieds and SUNY Canton Sportsman, as they grabbed opening night wins. Each took a different road to get their victories. Decker totally dominated the Big Block Modifieds, while Pitcher used a last lap, last corner pass for his win.

Friday night at the Brewerton Speedway, Phelps charged from the sixteenth starting spot to take the lead from Larry Wight on lap 23, and from there put his J&B Installations, No.99j, Troyer in victory lane in the exciting 35 lap feature.

The Oswego girl’s track team, turned in a fine performance Wednesday, outpointing the visiting Lady Bulldogs of Nottingham 74-67, to hand veteran Coach Jim McCaul, his 200th win as the Lady Buc head mentor.

A two-out, five-run Oswego State softball rally in the top of the seventh nearly completed an improbable comeback, but the Lakers (16-24) saw their season end after a 10-8 loss to Brockport (26-14) at the SUNYAC Championships Thursday afternoon.
