The Oswego State softball team (16-22) played error-free defense and outhit Cortland (35-6), but the Lakers came up short in a 7-3 loss to the Red Dragons in the first game of the SUNYAC Championships Thursday morning.

On the calendar, Tim Sears Jr. might be young in years at 20, in the racing world he has proven to be a skilled and versatile driver. Some drivers just seem to have a natural talent behind the wheel of a race car, Sears just happens to be one of them.

Ingles Performance has been a long-time supporter of both speedways and is also very visible as a sponsor on Chuck Bower’s Tracey Road Equipment Big Block Modified that competes weekly at both tracks.

Oswego High School athletes continue to perform well as track and field along with softball recently had strong outings while the golfers, girls’ lacrosse and baseball teams had solid efforts.

Side by side, and two, three wide racing action the Fulton Speedway is famous for will resume this Saturday night May, 5.  Ferris Mowers  presents the first full blown night of racing excitement after a successful Methanol Melt Down early in April.

The Oswego State softball team (16-21) heads into the SUNYAC Championships on a positive note after the Lakers posted wins of 4-3 and 3-2 versus visiting Hamilton (9-25) Monday afternoon.

The Oswego State women’s lacrosse team (4-10, 0-8 SUNYAC) were held to nine shots on goal, as the Lakers were handed a 21-6 defeat by Geneseo (9-6, 4-4) Monday afternoon to close out the season.

The Oswego State baseball team went out with a bang in 2012. The Lakers snapped third-ranked Keystone College’s (Pa.) 22-game winning streak with a 10-2 victory at Laker Baseball Field to finish the season with an even 20-20 record.
