Emotional Ceremony Marks Latest OHS Athletic Hall Of Fame Class

A celebration was held recently to induct the fourth class into the Oswego High School Athletic Hall of Fame. The “Class of 2011” included (in front) Kim (Schneider) Frohbieter, Bobbi Jo Louis; Frances and Cecelia Enwright accepting for the 1941 Football Team and Wally Brown while in back are Dan Gould and other 1941 gridiron team representatives Francis, Danny and Jim Enwright along with Jim Rebbeor.

On Oct. 1, friends, families, former coaches and members of the Hall of Fame came together to celebrate this year’s class of inductees.  Once again the event is hosted by the Oswego City School District and the Oswego Buccaneer Boosters.

Ernest LuongoFormer Oswego State men’s soccer coach Ernest Luongo passed away Sunday, October 2, 2011 in Oswego, N.Y at the age of 88. Luongo was the seventh coach for the Laker program from 1957-1966, compiling a record of 62-27-5 in his 10 seasons at the helm.

Volleyball Teams Continue To Dominate

Volleyball teams are on a tear as varsity and jayvee squads have been successful. In recent action, the Oswego High School girls’ varsity squad battled with West Genesee en route to wins of 25-17, 25-19 and 25-15. Coach Ron Ahart has been enthusiastic over the balanced team play displayed by the Bucs against the Wildcats.

Coach Mike Shea said, “This was another outstanding defensive performance. Brennan Richardson had his highest digs total with 14 while Dylan Lavner was on and consistently put the ball away. When we play good defense we get great opportunities on offense. We’re doing a good job of staying focused.”
