19th Celebration of Community Music Features The Rhythm-Airs Big Band, May 14

FULTON – The Fulton Music Association’s 19th Annual Celebration of Community Music featuring the Rhythm-Airs big band will be presented on May 14 at 7 p.m., at the G. Ray Bodley High School auditorium, it was announced by Steve Chirello, FMA president.

The 2016 FMA senior music awards will also be announced at this event and each recipient will perform.

Admission is free and FMA is providing free bus transportation to and from the concert for residents of Towpath Towers, Fulton Mill Apartments, Meadowbrook, and Oak Street Apartments.

The Rhythm-Airs 18-piece big band takes listeners on a musical journey with hits from the 1930s and ’40s with both traditional and modern arrangements.

Local musician Joe Cortini will be playing the drums and he has graciously arranged for their appearance at this concert, Chirello said.

The concert will also feature performances by the Fulton Community Band under the direction of Carol Fox.

The community band will be performing selections from The Phantom of the Opera, the Light Cavalry March, a Scott Joplin Retrospective, First Suite in Eb by Holst, Days of Glory, a variety of marches, and much more, Fox said.

“All concert participants are generously donating their time to help raise funds for FMA,” Chirello said. “In addition to helping high school students receive FMA awards this spring, FMA members will continue to help sponsor Fulton’s summer concert series, and bring special performances by the U.S Army’s 10th Mountain Div.
