Two of Oswego County’s most valuable human services providers, Catholic Charities of Oswego County and Oswego County Opportunities will soon be meeting on the diamond for a friendly softball game to help raise awareness of their agencies and the many programs and services that they provide for those in need throughout Oswego County.
Scheduled for Thursday, August 21st the event will be held on the main diamond at Fort Ontario in Oswego. There is no charge to attend and everyone is welcome.
Helen Hoefer, coordinator of Catholic Charities’ Donna’s Place Program, is coordinating the event along with Kerri Dam of Catholic Charities and Jo-Lyn Phillips of OCO.  Hoefer is looking forward to a little friendly competition and meeting the community. “I encourage everyone to come out and watch a fun evening of creative softball competition. It will be a great opportunity to meet some of our staff members and learn more about the programs and services that our agencies offer.”
Hoefer added that the game would be officiated by the staff of the United Way of Greater Oswego County. “It should be a fun event,” said United Way Executive Director, Melanie Trexler. “We have added some special rules to keep the game fun and light hearted, it will be a great way for the agencies’ staffs to get to know each other and meet the community.”
