Saturday, September 20th marked APW’s third annual community fair at the High School. APW superintendent, Deborah Haab, was very pleased with the outcome of this year’s celebration. “This is our third year and we have been very lucky to have such great weather and community support,” Haab beamed. The fair featured many activities including face painting, raffles, a petting zoo, an abundance of food, and 5 different fun-filled inflatable activities, including a huge inflatable slide. The Community Fair was free to the public, and was sponsored by individuals, community and parent groups, and did not require any financial support by the School District.
One of the many highlights of the fair was Henry Gloude, an APW employee who also practices chainsaw wood carving. Although this was his first time giving a live public demonstration, he seemed very comfortable displaying his talent in the public eye. For Gloude’s most current project, he is carving the new APW Rebel logo.
Among the many displays and booths were various school committees and several area community groups, including the Oswego County Search and Rescue Team and CSX Corporation. The Parish and Williamstown Fire Departments were also on hand to display their equipment, including their fire trucks.
Many of the fair-goers stayed for the homecoming football game afterwards to support the APW Rebel football team as they competed against Pulaski, one of their ongoing rivals. This was a unique game for APW, being their first game lit with rented stadium lights, made possible by the athletic boosters club.
APW employee Henry Gloude began to carve the Rebel Logo from a solid piece of wood with a chainsaw during the Community Fair. Gloude, who usually only does commissioned pieces, volunteered to do the logo for the district during the fair.
APW\’s third annual Community Fair was highly successful with a large community turnout. Five inflatables allowed children of all ages an opportunity to bounce the afternoon away.
The APW Community Fair featured five inflatable activities, but the Boxing Ring was quite a hit.
