The Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society coordinated a community service project that generated more than a half-ton of shelf-stable food donations for local food pantries in the school district’s communities.

Donations were collected by homeroom and the homerooms with the most donations, in net weight, were treated to a donut party.
Earning top honors for their donations were: Mrs. Heather Stone’s 8th grade homeroom with 233 pounds of donations; Mr. Nicholas Lee’s 7th grade homeroom with 231 pounds of donations; and Ms. Jennifer Lennox’s 9th grade homeroom with 122 pounds of donations.
The NJHS is for students in grades 7-8 at the APW Junior/Senior High School who have a grade point average of at least 92 and display the following five character attributes: scholarship, leadership, service, character and citizenship.
More than just an academic recognition, student members must be leaders of good character and well-rounded citizens that are active in their school and community.
The APW Chapter of the NJHS was established in 1992.
Inductions into the NJHS for the 2013-14 school year will take place in March.
