OSWEGO, NY – Works from the collection of Trustee Charlie Young are featured in
the February exhibit at the Oswego Public Library’s Art Gallery.
The display features works by local, national, and international artists.
Local artists included are photographs by Librarian Edward Elsner and Harrison Wilde, a print by the late Joseph Schoenhfelt and the work by the late Dan Distler – “The Disintegrating Milk Pod”. Jeanne Dupre of Constantia is represented by a winter landscape.
National artists represented are from Montana and Kansas. The latter state has an entry in tile – a landscape by Inga Bow.
The Czech Republic, Ireland and China are also included. China provides an embroidered dragon, and Tui, an artist who reportedly made signs for the uprising in Beijing. fled to the U.S., and received his MFA from the University of Montana-Missoula.
The painting from Prague is unlike any other in the display. A gift to Young and his nephew, Dave Sugar, from the artist, Petra Dup, it was created just after a love affair ended. It uses many symbols to convey anguish at the breakup.
The exhibit is available to view during regular library hours until March 1.
