Sponsored by Wiltsie Construction and The Clubhouse Tavern and coordinated by a committee of concerned community members, the breakfast is available free of charge and is open to the public.

Any donations accepted at the event will benefit to United Way’s Stuff-A-Bus Campaign that helps provides area youth in need with the supplies they need to begin the school year.

“This is the sixth year that we have hosted this event,” said Robert McGrath, owner of the tavern. “The United Way does a lot to benefit the youth in our community and we are happy to be able to support their efforts and help raise money for their programs. With the city filled with visitors for Harborfest we are looking forward to welcoming a big crowd.”

United Way Board member and committee member, Dan Dorsey of Eagle Beverage is proud to be a part of the event.

“As lifelong residents of this area, Liz and I chose to volunteer for the United Way breakfast because we believe that we all need to volunteer to help make our community a better place to live. United Way addresses many concerns in our community, none of which is more important than helping the younger members of our community start their lives in the right direction by properly preparing them to begin school. We encourage all members of our community to support this effort by attending the breakfast for a good cause and a good time,” said Dorsey.

The Stuff-A-Bus campaign collects donations of school supplies for distribution to children in need in Oswego County.

The highlight of the campaign will be a special collection day on Aug. 10 when school buses will be on site to accept donations of school supplies from pens and pencils to notebooks and backpacks.

“We are very appreciative of the support we are receiving from Wiltsie Construction, The Clubhouse Tavern and our planning committee. It’s encouraging to see that businesses and community members recognize the importance of helping our youth and supporting their United Way. Last year our Stuff-A-Bus program benefited more than 1,200 students and we would like to help even more this year. I am looking forward to the event and I hope our community members join us for a delicious breakfast,” said Executive Director of the United Way of Greater Oswego County, Melanie Trexler.
