OSWEGO, NY – Catholic Charities of Oswego County’s second Annual Co-Ed Volleyball Tournament Fundraiser received some much-needed support recently as Burritt Motors in Oswego has signed on as a major sponsor of the event.
Scheduled for Aug. 13 and 14, the tournament serves as a fundraiser for the agency’s food pantry and CYO program.
“We are pleased to have Burritt Motors as a major sponsor of our tournament. The support we receive from community leaders such as Burritt Motors is essential in allowing us to continue our mission of serving those who are in desperate need. We are grateful to Rich Burritt and Chris Burritt for their generosity and concern for our efforts and the communities which we serve.” said Executive Director of Catholic Charities of Oswego County, Mary-Margaret Pezzella-Pekow.
The tournament will be a two-day event featuring a round-robin format that will allow for more teams and more games for each team.
Beginning each day at 10 a.m., the event will be hosted by Cheap Seats Sports Bar & Grille, 6 Hillside Ave. and will pit 12 teams, six players per team, with the opportunity to win prizes of $250 for first place and $150 for second place.
To add to the fun there will also be a bag auction and a 50 / 50 drawing.
In addition, Lee Victory, owner of Cheap Seats, will also donate 20 % of all food and beverage sales during both days of the tournament to Catholic Charities of Oswego County.
All proceeds from the event will benefit Catholic Charities’ food pantry, which served more than 15,000 people and provided more than 63,000 meals last year and the CYO, which offers a wide variety of recreational and educational programs for area youth including its popular mentoring program for elementary and high school students.
“Whether as a spectator or a player, we invite community members to join us for event and fun for a good cause” added Pezzella-Pekow.

Registration fee is $150 per team.
