Fulton, NY – Those who utilize the services of Catholic Charities of Oswego County’s Food Pantry and Thrift Shop will soon enjoy a fully remodeled facility that will be much more convenient and user friendly.
Executive Director, Mary-Margaret Pezzella-Pekow has announced that the agency has begun a remodeling project that will provide Catholic Charities’ Food Pantry and its Thrift Shop with a complete makeover. Workers have begun moving walls and replacing flooring in the part of the building that houses the food pantry and thrift shop and anticipate having the project completed early this fall.
According to Pezzella-Pekow, when completed, the new design will allow the agency to serve its consumers much more efficiently. “We are re-designing our food pantry and converting it into a “client choice†facility that will allow our consumers to walk through our pantry and, with the help of our staff, pick out the food items that they prefer. Rather than our staff providing them with a box of food they will be able to select their choices from what is available on our pantry shelves. It will be a much more efficient and personal way for our consumers to get the food they need for themselves and their family,†she explained.
In addition to the pantry makeover, shoppers at Catholic Charities’ Thrift Shop will also find it easier to browse the aisles, as there will be new displays and additional space for clothing, furniture, and other essential items that are available at the store.
One of the most exciting renovations planned will be the addition of an area where clients will have access computer kiosks so they can conduct job searches on-line.
“We are excited about the changes that this project will bring and are looking forward to our grand opening when we will be able to showcase our newly remodeled food pantry and thrift shop to the community,†added Pezzella-Pekow.
Catholic Charities’ food pantry and thrift shop will remain open during the remodeling process. However on August 26, 27, & 28 the following changes will be in effect: The food pantry will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and the Thrift Shop will be closed. Weather permitting Catholic Charities will host a yard sale in the agency parking lot in front of the building at 365 West First Street in Fulton. Many of the items from the thrift shop will be available at the yard sale, which will be August 26, 27, & 28 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., weather permitting.
