FULTON, NY – After months of remodeling, Catholic Charities of Oswego County unveiled its all new Client Choice Food Pantry and Thrift Shop with a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the event.
Dignitaries from the city of Fulton and representatives from the Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce joined board members and staff of Catholic Charities for the grand opening celebration on Nov. 16.
The new client choice Food Pantry and Thrift Shop facility has an entirely new design that makes it much more convenient and user friendly.
According to Executive Director Mary-Margaret Pezzella-Pekow, the new design allows the agency to serve its consumers much more efficiently.
“Our new client choice food pantry provides our consumers with the opportunity to walk through our pantry and, with the help of a volunteer, pick out the food items that they prefer. They are able to select their choices from what is available on our pantry shelves. Each shelf is arranged by food group, so they are able to select the fruits, vegetables, grains, and proteins that they prefer. It is a much more efficient and personal way for our consumers to get the food they need for themselves and their family, she explained.â€Â
In addition to the pantry makeover, shoppers at Catholic Charities’ Thrift Shop will also find it easier to browse the aisles, as there are new displays and additional space for clothing, furniture, and other essential items that are available at the store.
There is also a resource area where clients can find information on other human service agencies and have access to a computer kiosk so they can conduct job searches on-line.
