FULTON, NY – In recognition of National Mentoring Month, Catholic Charities of Oswego County recognized adults participating in the agency’s Community Mentoring program.
The mentors assist youth ages 8 to 17 with a mental diagnosis in developing the confidence and character they need to succeed in life and become productive members of the community.
“We greatly appreciate the efforts of our mentors. They are dedicated to giving back to their community and making a making a difference in a young person’s life,” said community mentoring program coordinator Gail Cooper. “ I encourage those who may be interested in sharing their unique talents with young people that need our special gifts and support to become a mentor and experience for themselves the satisfaction of knowing that you are helping to shape the for future for our youth and making a difference in a young person’s life.”
Those participating in the program as mentors receive $10 per hour for their efforts as well a reimbursement for any mileage associated with their duties as a mentor.
